Structural engineering (Thornbury, VIC 3071)
Coveil delivered structural engineering for a Thornbury residence incorporating masonry design, a concrete raft slab footing system and curved masonry elements requiring careful detailing for reinforcement, movement control and buildability. The structure included lightweight timber framing and steel portal frames to achieve architectural openings and internal clear spans, with attention to load paths from roof/walls through to the footing system. Masonry and concrete design considerations were developed in line with the NCC referenced standards (commonly including AS 3700 for masonry and AS 2870/AS 3600 for footing and concrete design, as applicable to the dwelling form).
Civil engineering / stormwater (Thornbury – OSD + rainwater tanks)
For the civil scope, Coveil designed an on-site stormwater detention and storage solution suited to an inner-north Thornbury allotment, where site area and levels can limit available detention volume. Our design used rainwater tanks strategically to assist with required storage volumes while maintaining practical construction outcomes and straightforward maintenance. Hydrology and detention sizing was approached consistent with ARR guidance and typical council OSD requirements.
