BALWYN Residence

BALWYN Residence

Structural engineering (Balwyn, VIC 3103)
This Balwyn residence required structural engineering across masonry, curved masonry and a concrete raft slab system, supported by timber framing and steel portal framing to achieve long spans and architectural openings. A basement and pile retention system were designed to manage excavation conditions, boundary constraints and lateral earth pressures, with suspended concrete slabs and cantilevered elements forming key architectural features. Coveil’s documentation prioritised buildability—clear reinforcement detailing, setdowns, waterproofing interface coordination (structural side) and practical sequencing advice. Structural design followed NCC referenced standards for actions and material design including AS/NZS 1170, AS 3600 and AS 4100.

Civil engineering / stormwater (Balwyn – OSD + rainwater tanks)
Coveil completed stormwater design for the Balwyn site, including an OSD system and rainwater tank integration to achieve required storage volumes while maintaining efficient site layout. We coordinated roof drainage collection, pipework routing, overflow and safe surcharge paths, supporting a compliant, council-ready submission approach guided by ARR methodologies.
